Capricorn New Moon Forecast '22

Preamble:

The new moon can be thought of as a window in time when the Higher-Self initiates specific lessons or personal growth intentions for the coming month, and we can use the lunar cycle as a way of decoding evolutionary forces at a more granular level than the solar cycle or the transits of the slower moving planets.

For the spiritually minded person, the new moon is a time to receive the seed impulses for one’s personal evolution, and specifically those impulses toward bringing something new into conscious awareness. Each moon cycle fits into a larger cycle, which begins at the Aires new moon, and if you seriously want to track the unfolding pattern of higher-self guidance, it is a really good idea to record a log or journal of key messages and impressions received in the few hours before and after the new moon, roughly 4-5 hours on either side. During this window of time, make space to be more meditative and pay attention to your thoughts, inspirations, psychic messages and so on, as these will tend to correspond to the archetype the new moon is birthing in at the time, and correlate to the growth themes we are meant to work with during the month.

At some point in time (after a few months) you can look through your log and begin to see a key pattern unfolding, which can stimulate further insight in terms of life purpose.

The New Moon occurs just a few days after the December Solstice, which means the charts cast for the New Moon and the Solstice are almost identical. In this shorter forecast I am going to focus on the personal spiritual growth issues and opportunities, which can be taken in the context of the themes highlighted in the December Solstice Forecast.

I have also streamlined down to the traditional astrological archetypes to focus on some key patterns.

Healing energy available this lunation for the world

Just as with the Solstice chart there is a core stellium of planets in Capricorn for this lunation. In particular the asteroid Hygeia is in a very close conjunction with the New Moon, and forms an energised T-Square with Jupiter opposing Ceres. This T-Square is right on the world-axis, which may put our personal process in direct resonance with world events, which is to say that world events may trigger personal growth this lunation. Hygeia on the world-axis emphasises well-being this Christmas and New Year, energised by the expansive and fun loving qualities of Jupiter and the earthy joyful abundance of Ceres.

The New Moon in Capricorn may well involve higher-self messages and impulses toward deep self reflection, issues of responsibility, new inspirations and goals, and a call to make commitments to specific paths of action. We might be asking ourselves “what meaningful contribution to the world am I making?” “Am I on track?”

Relative to the New Moon cycle as a whole, which always initiates through Aires (it did so in May 2022), the Capricorn New Moon represents a turning point toward completion, which means that whatever we have been working on since May 2022, we are probably going to feel drawn to ground something of the inner work we have been doing, into a pattern or form. Perhaps it is to begin to coalesce some sort of plan for the future, maybe its the time to bring certain creative impulses to conclusion. With Capricorn we can be sure that effort, discipline and consistency will be needed to gain results. If we have been receiving creative inspirations and intuitions, this lunation can be a time when we ground into practical reality, troubleshoot and make plans. We may also be called to step up and take a more responsible role at this time.

Hygeia - Goddess of Healing

Hygeia the goddess of holistic healing is prominent this Solstice and New Moon. Will some of our time in self-reflection focus on personal wellbeing, and possible lifestyle changes we may need to take to feel better in ourselves? Given the Scorpio Solar Eclipse wave driving deep transformation, this lunation draws us to pay attention to harmonisation and balance for a smoother process. Is it time for withdrawal and meditation? Or a good month to rekindle yoga practice?

The materialist festival of Christmas may provide obstacles to time alone for contemplation, and yet it is worth considering that the December Solstice, New Moon and Christmas Day are potent opportunities to tune into spiritual forces for guidance and insight.

Ceres: Mother of Abundance

In this the T-square is interesting: Ceres in Libra speaks to me of abundant sharing with others during the Yule-time; the laying out of celebratory food as the bounty of Mother Earth. Jupiter in Aires on the other hand indicates alone time to gather intuitive insights, or it might mean key individuals being a little too overbearing in social situations. So perhaps the task this Christmas and New Year is going to be much about finding the correct balance between inner spiritual work, and outer social responsibilities with others. Let's keep those passionate opinions at bay and make sure we listen to others during the festive period.

The other key pattern in the chart is the Yod formation with Chiron, Mars and the Lunar South Node. There will be an element of work processing the past in relation to core spiritual wounds, so events may occur that trigger these deeper issues. The onus will be on the willingness to engage deep and intense feelings in connection with past experiences where we may have felt powerless, abandoned or betrayed. If this comes up for you, the key will be to utilise the Mars retrograde energy in Gemini to recapitulate, revisit and review whatever comes up; respectful communication about the past can open the way for surprise insights and resolutions. Yods in general require of us an inner adjustment; resolutions occur through inner change rather than expecting others to change for us.

Given the Solstice and Eclipse energies in play, we can expect this Christmas and New Year period to be a little more sedate and low key than usual, with a tendency toward sobriety and seriousness. For many there will be more financial concerns than other years, and cause to be more conserving in terms of money and energy, especially during the colder months. Social gatherings have real potential to have a healing effect on both body and soul.

I wish you all a bountiful Yuletide ~

May your inner-light shine bright with deep appreciation for what is.
