Preamble:
The new moon can be thought of as a window in time when the Higher-Self initiates specific lessons or personal growth intentions for the coming month, and we can use the lunar cycle as a way of decoding evolutionary forces at a more granular level than the solar cycle or the transits of the slower moving planets.
For the spiritually minded person, the new moon is a time to receive the seed impulses for one’s personal evolution, and specifically those impulses toward bringing something new into conscious awareness. Each moon cycle fits into a larger cycle, which begins at the Aires new moon, and if you seriously want to track the unfolding pattern of higher-self guidance, it is a really good idea to record a log or journal of key messages and impressions received in the few hours before and after the new moon, roughly 4-5 hours on either side. During this window of time, make space to be more meditative and pay attention to your thoughts, inspirations, psychic messages and so on, as these will tend to correspond to the archetype the new moon is birthing in at the time, and correlate to the growth themes we are meant to work with during the month.
At some point in time (after a few months) you can look through your log and begin to see a key pattern unfolding, which can stimulate further insight in terms of life purpose.
To begin with
The New Moon in Capricorn energises Higher-Self impulses connected to responsibility, discipline and maturation. Lessons this month may draw us to pay attention to what we most need to be responsible for, things we may need to put effort into, as well as outer manifestations that call us to develop inner authority over our personal lives. This is also a month for internal self-reflection, life planning, goal setting and developmental changes related to social contribution, in whichever way that expresses individually.
This month there are some key energy patterns to consider with the onus on change and new beginnings, so let's take a deeper dive to see what themes are in play as the secular year begins.

General Overview:
Pluto is now at the very last degree of Capricorn about to ingress into Aquarius early next month. Saturn is now in exact conjunction with Gonggong for the second time (at 4˚ Pisces) in exact sextile with Ixion at 4˚ Capricorn. We can expect to see the old elite powers continue to strive hard to manipulate world events in ways that don’t serve the majority, as the Capricorn impulse to hold onto the status quo is intensified.
World events such as the war over the Gaza strip, are one such example, reflective of the Mars-Ixion conjunction in trine with Jupiter in Taurus, and sextile to Saturn and Gonggong.
Manwë at 1˚ of Aries in square to the Mars-Ixion conjunction, suggests that there continues to be a battle between the light and the dark behind the scenes on many levels.
The New Moon in an exact square to the lunar nodes also highlights this month as being pivotal in some sense; personal and collective events this month could prove to alter the balance in some significant way.
Resolving the past in order to move forward
This New Moon in exact square to the lunar nodes, strongly suggests this will be a key month to sort out unresolved past issues responsibly, in order that we can more easily move on. This theme was already activated at the last Libra equinox last year, re-energised again at the following solar-eclipse, and arises yet again this month. If you’ve been trying to make peace with the past, this might be a key month for significant shifts to occur.
The Saturn-Gonggong conjunction emphasises a personal need to be willing to let go of attachments to old ways of doing things. There’s a wholesale shake up occurring (already the last year) that serves us in ways that help us move forward into new ways of being. Old ways of thinking may now suddenly dissolve away, and this might be accompanied by a growing disillusionment with the status quo. Although taxing, disillusionment is progress, as we ditch illusions that have been allowing us to feel comfortable with our place in life, but which have enabled us to stay the same; now we can begin to make space for what is more important.
Collectively this is an ongoing signature symbol for the decay and breakdown of societal structures that have become evolutionarily obsolete; with Pluto soon to ingress into Aquarius for 20 years, we are on the threshold of a new era and accelerated change. With Saturn in exact conjunction to Gonggong in Pisces, and Ixion (the evildoer) in exact sextile in Capricorn, we may also witness significant powerplays by those in positions of power and status (elite interests) to destabilise the world; as the illuminati moto goes; order out of chaos, but to no avail in the longer term; there are powerful beneficial forces poised to balance collective energy in alignment with cosmic law.
The New Moon square to the lunar nodes also puts more energy this month into a growing desire for new experiences beyond the confines of our day to day habitual routines, and there might be pressure and frustration over a feeling of stuck-ness like a tug of war situation, where there is energy to initiate in new directions, while also an insecurity that holds us back. My sense here is that this month might be a time to weigh and measure emerging options, taking the month to figure out how best to take steps forward.
This New Moon is in a close disseminating trine with Uranus in Taurus, offering us all a welcome sense of objective perception, which may help break us out of limiting habitual patterns of thought; if we don’t think differently no change can happen.
Collective healing of war related trauma
With Chiron in Aires moving steadily into conjunction with the lunar north node, there is a collective impulse to process war trauma - this is partly activated by the recent war situations in the Ukraine and more recently in Gaza, but these outer manifestations will act as triggers for healing and awakening in many of us across the globe.
Chiron is in an exact trine with Venus, so there is ample opportunity to heal through forgiveness and love. Chiron is also opposing Logos-Zoë and Makemake, suggesting that the healing of deep collective wounding goes way back to the global cataclysm 15,000 years ago (great flood), the fall of Atlantis caused by the abuse of power. There is now a call to integrate and align with the higher-power and natural law.
When we consider that war is so rarely wanted by the masses, but orchestrated by self-interested parties with a profit incentive, there is scope for more of us to penetrate the lies, manipulations and incomplete truths promulgated by corporate owned mainstream media, via a rekindling of spiritual sovereignty, where we give permission to think for ourselves. For example how many realise that the leaders of Hamas live in 5 star hotel suites in Qatar and together are worth $11 billion? And how many know that the entire Gaza Strip sits on top of an oil and gas field?
Like so many wars, it seems the elite play on both sides of the drama toward their own ends, while many innocent people suffer.
The Ascension highway to a better reality
Quaoar and Pholus have returned to an exact conjunction (they will be part of the evolutionary picture for many years yet) and this represents part of the Ascension process; the transmission of new higher frequencies into the denser frequency patterns on Earth, and the way these new energies cause significant and sudden shifts in consciousness. Their place in Capricorn highlights how these new energies are altering society.
They form the apex of an energised T-Square with Salacia and Makemake; these frequencies are stimulating new innovations, as well as stirring up remembrance of past life-times in pre-diluvial epochs in high-cultures in our forgotten past. Some of us may be tasked with integrating the reclamation of forgotten knowledge with new teachings coming in from the Light.
In addition we have Mercury conjunct Varda in Sagittarius adding supportive insight and new awareness this month that can expand our understanding of reality, and elevate our spiritual practises. Varda, the Lady of the Stars, who is currently conjunct the Galactic Centre, is a potent transmitter of energy directly from the Galactic Logos or Christ Consciousness.
Last thoughts…
The December Solstice wave was yet another potent carrier for the new frequencies driving Ascension and the elevation of human consciousness. This month feels like it will be more consolidating and self-reflective, as we integrate and process, as part of the way we each individually respond to the Ascension journey. It is a time to slow down, take stock of everything, especially since the social energetic whirl of Christmas and New Year, in order to find our bearings as we get ready for the year ahead.
