Preamble:
The new moon can be thought of as a window in time when the Higher-Self initiates specific lessons or personal growth intentions for the coming month, and we can use the lunar cycle as a way of decoding evolutionary forces at a more granular level than the solar cycle or the transits of the slower moving planets.
For the spiritually minded person, the new moon is a time to receive the seed impulses for one’s personal evolution, and specifically those impulses toward bringing something new into conscious awareness. Each moon cycle fits into a larger cycle, which begins at the Aires new moon, and if you seriously want to track the unfolding pattern of higher-self guidance, it is a really good idea to record a log or journal of key messages and impressions received in the few hours before and after the new moon, roughly 4-5 hours on either side. During this window of time, make space to be more meditative and pay attention to your thoughts, inspirations, psychic messages and so on, as these will tend to correspond to the archetype the new moon is birthing in at the time, and correlate to the growth themes we are meant to work with during the month.
At some point in time (after a few months) you can look through your log and begin to see a key pattern unfolding, which can stimulate further insight in terms of life purpose.
General Overview
On a personal level, the Pisces New Moon marks the culmination of the lunation cycle around the zodiac, which began in April 2022; a whole level of emotional development is now coming to a close as we begin to tune into the new soul directives now emerging in readiness for the renewal of a cycle of personal growth. If you missed tuning into the Aires New Moon last year, then I invite you to get ready for the cycle rebirth, which this year will coincide with the March Equinox!
It has been a common teaching of late, to herald the Aires New Moon and the March Equinox as optimal times to focus on one’s desires and the things we want to create, as this will amplify the signal of intention. I am of a different view; an incomplete appreciation of the law of attraction may give us the impression that we can create and manifest anything we want, but to my mind the law of attraction is a function of co-creation, which is to say we participate in a sacred creative act. Ego awareness alone does not appear to have autonomous creative power as such, this only occurs when the ego comes into alignment with soul or Higher-Self; in this sense our task is to ‘receive’ Higher-Self impulses, and in a cooperative manner to act through guidance toward manifestations that serve the highest good. In this way “Divine will through personal will is done”.
The emphasis therefore at the moment of each New Moon is to cultivate an open receptivity to Higher-Self impulses in order to co-create with the Higher-Will (The Divine Will). Each one of us is given a creative task to bring to the world in the best possible way; a complex task that is evolving with us over time. Depending on one’s level of spiritual development, the ability to receive clear messages and inspirations will vary, but this month the capacity to receive visionary input is heightened. If we take notes over the course of a full lunar 'new moon' cycle around the zodiac, especially regarding what messages and Higher-Self impulses revealed themselves during the New Moon period each month, then we can see a pattern of spiritual development and reflect on the core messages and how they fit into a larger mosaic of meaning.
The Pisces New Moon may offer Higher-Self visions, inspirations and impulses that tune us to the new cycle emerging in March and April (there will be 2 Aires New Moons this year). We may also feel impulsed to bring certain processes of development to a close this month; perhaps some of us will be reflecting on passed events and creations as we come emotionally to completion. This is the perfect month to spend some time recapping over the growth themes you have had over the last year, perhaps reaffirming any ongoing commitments you may have to awakening and spiritual growth, or maybe defining those commitments for the first time. We may also feel more drawn than usual to spiritual practices; I am often inspired to meditate, connect more formally with spirit guides, or make a ritual fire when Pisces is influencing the Moon.
The Pisces New Moon offers us a greater degree of psychic sensitivity, through which we can feel more connected to spirit; to guidance; and to the field of potentiality. You may experience a combination of impulses to bring some aspects of your life to a close, and to envision where next you might be headed. If this doesn’t happen easily for you, then making sacred space for prayer, contemplation and positive intention, while remaining open to guidance is a good way to use this New Moon energy.
Highlights of this lunation include:
The imminent rebirth of Venus into Aires.
Hygeia about to rebirth through the deep transformative nature of Pluto
Pisces New Moon in a close conjunction with Saturn in Aquarius.
The prime drivers of the New Moon energy are 3 energised T-Square aspects with the archetypes of Neptune in Pisces, Saturn in Aquarius and a Quaoar/Pholus conjunction in Capricorn at the apexes. In general we can expect evolutionary pressure or stimulus toward deeper surrender to the Higher-Power, liberation from limiting conditioning, and greater empathic connection through an ongoing frequency shift as we process and integrate incoming cosmic light.

As highlighted in the previous Aquarius New Moon Forecast (last month) the plight of those victimised by the negative shadow-side of our existing patriarchal systems of top down hierarchical governance (almost everyone), is now becoming ever more salient to the masses, as many are feeling the intensity of overt control looming over their lives, while awakening out of the hypnotic trance, through sudden survival concerns as rising fuel prices and food prices force fundamental changes in life perception. After so many years of exposed scandals and acts of negligence, there is much distrust in the system and those running it that many are beginning to push back. Are politicians and bureaucrats simply incompetent and unconscious of their failings, or are they fundamentally corrupt and driven only by self-interest?
Typhon in Scorpio also shows up in collective expressions like cancel-culture ( a modern equivalent of witch-hunting) as well as the "reactionary tweet phenomenon" and trolling, where disturbances in our own individual psyche get triggered and then projected onto others in a way that is not balanced, constructive or responsible. We see it also in the conspiracy movement on both sides; those sucked down into the conspiracy rabbit hole, paranoid and fearful, chasing the spectres of their worst fears, as well as those anti-conspiracy who are equally irrational in their quick rejection and denial of the dark-side of human nature.
With Typhon in Scorpio in opposition to Sedna in Taurus, we are seeing more and more the way those trustfully elected into positions of power, are misusing power; either compelled by unresolved psycho-emotional trauma, or possessed by collective shadow forces. Through this emergent new collective awareness, revolutionary pressure is now exerted onto our systems to improve them or reshape them toward a more egalitarian orientation. In some cases this is being achieved by standing up and holding people accountable for their actions. For example the Brunson Brothers in the USA have independently filed two law suits against President Biden, Harris and former VP Pence for violating their sworn oath to abide by and protect the constitution. Under pressure within the existing system, it appears that those in positions of power are beginning to recognise that they are in breach of their own rules, or perhaps are even understanding the rules for the first time! Although this heroic undertaking appears to have been blocked and rejected by the Supreme Court (as of early January) there are positive reverberations connected to such actions, which serve to make more salient the real issues.
In Iran we are seeing this push back coming from young women, and the positive development I see is the rising intolerance toward psychopathic traits expressing as power abuse, wherever it is in the world. Given that the New Moon is also at the apex along with Saturn, this month may see some significant revolutionary events as those feeling victimised reclaim power.
On another level, Hygeia in balsamic conjunction with Pluto suggests intense transformations are possible through holistic healing practices, which can have a powerful resolution effect on personal trauma, in ways that can liberate us from destructive patterns.
With Aruwn in exact conjunction with Hygeia, I feel there is a lot of help from the ‘otherworld’ available especially in regard to healing. With Hygeia’s links with herbal medicine, I suspect this aspect represents new levels of awareness emerging in regard to plant devas and their influence on health; what might be termed quantum plant medicine. This new awareness will be experienced by those working close with plants for healing and transformation, and will seed new ways of working with the spirit-world toward greater wellbeing. I haven’t spoken at all about the newer archetype of Aruwn despite the fact that Aruwn and Pluto have been in close conjunction for many years, and are currently in a powerful renewal phase with each other and have been since 2009. Due to their almost identical orbital times (Aruwn is just 73 days longer and thus slower than Pluto), this cycle renewal between the evolutionary realms of the soul and the numerous interrelated spirit-worlds associated with the Fae and with our ancestors, is a lengthy affair but I think ultimately represents the beginning of a new relationship between humanity and our close relatives in neighbouring dimensions, reminiscent of one we must have had in ages past, if we pay attention to the old myths and legends.
When we elevate plant medicine to the quantum level, we move away from a Newtonian-science perspective that views medicinal herbs as collections of phyto-nutrients and chemicals, and a natural alternative to synthetic drugs, toward a more multi-dimensional approach. For example, a herb such as dandelion, typically used to detoxify the liver at the chemical level, expands its potential to affect us energetically as well, amplifying its healing effect in ways that boost self-esteem and aid self-realisation. My suggestion here is that we can activate the herbs we are drawn to use with positive prayerful intention, and evoke the spiritual essence of healing plants for greater awareness, learning and wellbeing. This message is all the more clear, when we consider the Sabian symbol for the 26th degree of Capricorn (The Arwun/Hygeia conjunction):
“A nature spirit dancing in the iridescent mist of a waterfall”
This conveys to me the essence of an invitation to reconnect with the ‘soul of nature’ in a personified form for greater wellbeing, as if to remind us that there is a great deal of help from the spirit-world if we consciously cultivate a relationship with it. With Haumea in Scorpio in a close trine with the New Moon, this month may be a time to work with the healing potential of plants if you aren’t already doing so, and if you set the intention during this lunation, you may receive intuitive or visionary prompts to work with specific herbs or connect with specific plants in the garden.
Healing Trauma
With Manwë and Venus in exact conjunction, both sextile Pluto and Sedna, significant personal resolutions can be made through forgiveness and surrender. For anyone working with sexual abuse trauma, there is a real possibility this month for a breakthrough and liberation from the past, if you are willing to forgive. If the notion of forgiveness sounds impossible or undesirable, my recent post on Forgiveness may be of help.
Ascension, Frequency Shift and Collective Karma
Jupiter and Chiron in balsamic conjunction in Aires, not only stimulates an expansion into new ways of understanding reality, but it also induces a crisis in consciousness rooted in humanity’s forgotten past. For those of us pioneering into new circles of awareness, we may find ourselves asking just how much of what we think we know is true, especially regarding our true origins. Makemake in Libra suggests that the collective karmic effects connected to Atlantis are now up for reconciliation. How much of what is happening now is rooted in evolutionary pathways that began at the fall of Atlantis, a global cataclysm (the source of our many flood myths) and the subsequent rise of a ruling elite paradigm? I suspect that for anyone working effectively with the high frequency transmissions emanating from Quaoar, part of the process may well be the remembrance of those ancient times and the integration of those memories through the physical body at a cellular level. Although this is an ongoing theme, this lunation may bring up visions and memories for processing.
Spiritual Activation through an intuitive grasp of the signs and signals
Varda representing the illuminate benevolent angelic help available to us, is significantly potentised at the moment as she lines up with the Galactic Centre; her light transmissions can quicken spiritual development and awakening, especially if we can pay attention to the signs, signals and synchronicities in our lives and make sense of them. The T-square involving Varda, Asbolus and Neptune energising awakening and healing, will tend to stimulate a crisis in action:
Will we honour the messages coming in for our personal journey and take action on them?
What spiritual practices and protocols can we integrate into daily or weekly life that will help us stay tuned into spiritual dimensions?
How many synchronicities do we need to manifest in order to take the action needed?
With Mars in Gemini in a close trine with Mercury in Aquarius, the collective desire to understand our reality will be enhanced by intuitive messaging, which can break us out of habitual and limited ways of thinking if we are willing to follow through on our hunches.
Overall this is a good month to deepen spiritual practice and receive visions and images of the future. The Pisces New Moon may well energise imaginative and creative pursuits, especially if they help us transcend mundane reality. Each of us have the opportunity to receive messages from higher guidance as new seed thoughts prepare us for the coming Equinox rebirth and renewal.
