Preamble:
The new moon can be thought of as a window in time when the Higher-Self initiates specific lessons or personal growth intentions for the coming month, and we can use the lunar cycle as a way of decoding evolutionary forces at a more granular level than the solar cycle or the transits of the slower moving planets.
For the spiritually minded person, the new moon is a time to receive the seed impulses for one’s personal evolution, and specifically those impulses toward bringing something new into conscious awareness. Each moon cycle fits into a larger cycle, which begins at the Aires new moon, and if you seriously want to track the unfolding pattern of higher-self guidance, it is a really good idea to record a log or journal of key messages and impressions received in the few hours before and after the new moon, roughly 4-5 hours on either side. During this window of time, make space to be more meditative and pay attention to your thoughts, inspirations, psychic messages and so on, as these will tend to correspond to the archetype the new moon is birthing in at the time, and correlate to the growth themes we are meant to work with during the month.
At some point in time (after a few months) you can look through your log and begin to see a key pattern unfolding, which can stimulate further insight in terms of life purpose.
The New Moon in Pisces marks the culmination of another New Moon cycle, which started March 2023; whatever key lessons we have been working with over the last year are now coming to completion, or a new level of understanding is ripening, and as such certain life themes may now be up for release. As with any cycle change there is always a window of time before a new cycle begins, when we can receive prompts and messages about what is about to come. Pisces is the sign of visions and spiritual signals, and the New Moon in Pisces initiates greater psychic sensitivity. As such this is a useful lunation for slowing down, tuning in and connecting to spiritual guidance. It's also an opportune time for meditation, spiritual practice, healing retreats, as well as artistic pursuits. Through Pisces we best attune to the universal picture; the largest context of meaning through which to make sense of our lives.
What visions can we receive that will help us stay on track during the next cycle?
What new understanding can we apprehend that can help us finalise lessons now completing?

Awakening to the dual nature of reality as part of a spiritual journey
Teharonhiawako (T-Wako), one of the newer celestial bodies discovered since 2000, is in an exact conjunction with the Pisces New Moon, and together they oppose Orcus in Virgo. T-Wako as a high-frequency archetype connected to cosmological wisdom is fused with this New Moon energy, riding at the forefront of the energy wave. T-Wako is a binary object and in Iroquois myth he has a twin brother called Sawiskera. These twin brothers act as agents for the dark and the light; for creation and destruction; harmony and disorder etc.
(T-Wako governs the balancing of the Light and Dark as a way to mitigate the extreme shadow expressions, such as we are seeing on the world stage today. The proliferation of what we might call contracts with evil, or the selling of one's soul in return for egotistic gratification in the from of success, fame or power, is amplified due to the collectively neglect or avoidance of the integration of the shadow aspect of nature)
Orcus represents the spiritual initiate on the feminine path of self-revelation, and Orcus is currently in retrograde motion, emphasising spiritual processes happening in many of us in an internalised way; we are not seeking answers through group practices and retreats as much as we are reviewing, recapitulating, remembering and working through personal themes within ourselves. The onus is to purify and throw off that which is not true to the path.
This review and revisioning may now be imbued with deep questioning about the dual nature of reality, and a growing appreciation for the law of cycles through which we all function, whether we know it or not; cycles of introversion followed by cycles of extroversion; cycles of generation and growth, followed by cycles of breakdown and death, and so on. For the spiritual traveller, these are of significance if we are to navigate life in a holistic way.
This month may provide stimulus for this level of inquiry and an opportunity to unveil ourselves into a deeper cooperation with spiritual forces. T-Wako is generally a positive and benevolent energy (despite the presence of his dark twin), so we can expect this to be a positive and corrective influence in the main. Nevertheless this New Moon could initiate a turn in the cycle either toward renewal, if we have been in a cycle of descent, or it could mark a change in our personal cycle toward breakdown, release and shadow-work; it will depend entirely on where we each are on the journey. If its your time to descend into death-rebirth cycles, it's better to cooperate in trust than resist through fear of change. Fear tends to generate unnecessary life turbulence.
Spiritual Initiations
Orcus is a central archetype this month; aside from the New Moon opposition, Orcus is also making an inconjunct to Chiron and the North Node, and a trine to Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus.
For those on a spiritual journey, this month is highlighted for key activations through teachers, healers or remote teachings (books), which in turn could readily catalyse new intuitive awareness, stimulate natural law values, or open us up to new philosophies, metaphysical teachings and wisdom tributaries.
With Uranus and Jupiter making an inconjunct to the South Node and Logos-Zoë, new insights this month may pertain to the past, either in this life or previous ones, and any breakthroughs in awareness are likely to involve a balancing of yin-yang forces (most probably toward the yin since we are often too yang) and an infusion of stabilising healing light energy.
As always some effort may have to be made in order to maximise on this opportunity; if we get too distracted by outer stimuli we may miss this potential.
A new relationship cycle - the emergence of a new humanity?
Mars and Venus periodically come into conjunction in the sky marking a change in the way the world deals with inner and outer forces (and desires versus needs), representing a shift in relationship lessons. This recently occurred on Feb 22nd this year at 6˚ Aquarius close to Pluto; from now until 2026 we are all infused with Aquarian ‘relationship’ energy, which is associated with humanitarian values, like mind, altruism, and freedom. Aquarius also tends to speed up change and evolution. When Venus rebirths through Mars in a sign, they both carry the energy of that sign forward until their next merger, which can vary from about 9 months to 2 years (with some exceptions). In this sense we can see that relationship growth themes will generally involve a move toward more freedom in relationships, more objective awareness and greater equity. We may also find ourselves liberating from past relationship strategies and seeking out more likeminded relationship opportunities. This theme is carrying on from the last Venus/Mars cycle, which re-birthed at 0˚ Aquarius in Mar 2022, but it will now progress. Back in 2022 the initial theme was toward the spiritualisation of both the individual and relationships. I mean this in the collective sense, in that there was energy moving us collectively toward more noble ideals and aspirations.
The Sabian symbol for the 7th degree of Aquarius (the point of rebirth for Mars and Venus) is “ A child is seen being born out of an egg” - a child being born out of an egg implies a new type of human, free from the constraints of family patterns and the inertia of our collective past. As astrologer Dane Rudyar writes: The 7th degree of Aquarius [6˚ Aquarius] can be said to announce the EMERGENCE OF GLOBAL MAN for the New Age.
Given that Pluto is now in Aquarius, there is a strong indication that the way we relate to ourselves and others is moving through a liberating process (especially from social conditioning) and now activating the Aquarian humanitarian enterprise. How this occurs for each one of us will no doubt vary considerably, and where the Feb conjunction falls in the natal chart by house, will shed more light on where the process of change will begin for you.
This month Venus is in new phase to Mars, indicating the breaking away from old patterns and the forging of new ones, so we won’t be able to track the influence on this new cycle just yet:
How will new awareness alter the way we relate?
What new relationship seeds are now being sown?
Have our needs changed?
Have our desires changed?
Do we need to engage relationship in a new way?
A crisis in consciousness activates liberation processes
Mars and Venus in Aquarius are in a last quarter square with Uranus in Taurus, highlighting a sense of crisis, relative to meaning, generating tension for awakening and liberation from the past. The collective will for grounded change is energised and amplified, and at the individual level there is more energy and will than usual toward changing patterns of behaviour, and upgrading what we most value and desire in life.
A crisis in consciousness occurs when we experience a cognitive dissonance between what we believe reality to be versus what reality actually is; its a quality of self-awareness, sometimes just beneath the surface of our normal way of thinking, perhaps as a gut feeling or intuition, which puts us into conflict between the past and the future i.e. between the established pattern and future possibility; we are forced by subtle internal changes to question our existing reality, and by extension what gives us meaning, and in so doing are often moved toward a more universalised approach to life beyond social norms, expectations and rules of play.
Crisis isn’t in itself a bad thing; its a fork in the road; an energised call to make a significant choice that will alter the way we live and grow. How we choose and what we choose are crucial to the way we experience crisis; if we resist, tension and anxiety will tend to increase.
One could say that much of the world is facing a crisis in consciousness, as trusted systems continue to fail or breakdown, with increasing uncertainty about our future. During this Pisces lunation, this theme will be energised at both the personal and collective level; there will tend to be energy to liberate from old ways of relating to and taking action in the world; answers can only be found beyond the existing paradigm, and the challenge will be over how secure we each feel, and whether we are courageous enough to leave aspects of society behind in order to gain new awareness. This is a timely occurrence, as it happens just before the culmination of the New Moon cycle and its rebirth in Aries on April 8th 2024, effectively preparing us for the new personal evolutionary creative impulses and lessons, which will initiate then.
Summary
Pluto’s momentum in Aquarius is now building, and this will likely mean a general shift in the evolutionary themes toward more global awakening, liberation from limiting and obsolete ways of living, and a move toward more equality. The Mars/Venus conjunction in Aquarius coinciding with this evolutionary change, could be marking the inception of the new global human of the New Age of Light attributed to the Aquarian Age. This positive movement is juxtaposed by Ixion in exact sextile to Gonggong; there’s a battle going on in earnest between the players committed to the old system based on power and self-interest (often manipulating behind the scenes), and the new humanitarian uprising.
The super stellium in Pisces (8 celestial bodies) amplifies the archetype of Pisces this month, where unveiling truth, cultivating a spiritual life, and healing through forgiveness opens the way for personal growth toward who we are becoming and what part we are going to play in a world in transition.
This is a month to receive messages that keep us on track with what is coming next; a time to prepare; a time to reflect on what we need to release, what we can heal, what we want, what we need, and what is meant for us.
Through conscious alignment with higher spiritual forces we can gain clear insight as to the next steps in our life journeys. Internal changes made now, prepare the ground for what is coming next.
