Preamble:
The new moon can be thought of as a window in time when the Higher-Self initiates specific lessons or personal growth intentions for the coming month, and we can use the lunar cycle as a way of decoding evolutionary forces at a more granular level than the solar cycle or the transits of the slower moving planets.
For the spiritually minded person, the new moon is a time to receive the seed impulses for one’s personal evolution, and specifically those impulses toward bringing something new into conscious awareness. Each moon cycle fits into a larger cycle, which begins at the Aires new moon, and if you seriously want to track the unfolding pattern of higher-self guidance, it is a really good idea to record a log or journal of key messages and impressions received in the few hours before and after the new moon, roughly 4-5 hours on either side. During this window of time, make space to be more meditative and pay attention to your thoughts, inspirations, psychic messages and so on, as these will tend to correspond to the archetype the new moon is birthing in at the time, and correlate to the growth themes we are meant to work with during the month.
At some point in time (after a few months) you can look through your log and begin to see a key pattern unfolding, which can stimulate further insight in terms of life purpose.
The Leo New Moon last month may have energised our co-creative impulse, and as a consequence we either took a line of personal development forward, took it to a new level, or received new creative ideas. Hopefully we were reminded that we are co-creators within our own evolution, and we have a responsibility to put effort into grounding higher-self messages and direction toward embodied practical internal or external action.
The Virgo New Moon will act to help us do this as we move into the Earth element once again, and start to think on how we can best optimise our own personal truth, and what is being asked of us on our unique path of unfoldment. Typically there is a draw toward troubleshooting, reorganising how we go about things, going inward to analyse key issues in order to figure out how to make them work better, or a readiness to heal and rebalance ourselves. We may also find ourselves more engaged with work processes as we get better at what we do.
This month Orcus is in close conjunction with the New Moon and in a direct opposition to Saturn in Pisces, making this period of time energised toward spiritual awakening, purification rituals and key practices that help us stay on the path. Saturn in Pisces highlights collective lessons regarding spiritual connection and its shadow: delusion, hedonism and an escape from reality. We may find that part of our personal healing and awakening process will currently go hand in hand with disciplined spiritual and healing practices, and the challenge of overcoming personal illusions that ‘soften’ the way we see reality. Saturn is teaching us to get more real, while also directing us to get more spiritually connected.
With 3 Yods and a Grand Trine in this months new moon chart, there is quite a lot of energy flowing toward new understandings and self mastery. Lets take a deeper look at some of the core archetypal themes on offer this month…

Goddess energy activated to bring resolution to the past and germinate a new future
Ceres in exact conjunction with Pholus, and fused with the energy of Quaoar, acts as another carrier for the high frequency energies coming in. Ceres is a goddess of the Earth (like Virgo), a grain goddess, a mother, and a patron deity of deep feminine transformational processes. Her position between Quaoar and Pholus suggests an enhanced moment for grounding high-frequency spiritual energy through the body and into the earth.
For some of us, this lunation might spark a degree of personal culmination, and a time of harvesting the rewards for past spiritual efforts. For others it may represent a need to withdraw substantially from outer activity, in order to engage and immerse in emotions and feelings. By doing this we can complete past lessons. This is emphasised by Ceres being in square to the lunar nodes, indicating either the release of past karma, allowing for positive forward movement, because we’ve done enough personal work in relation to the past, or a surfacing of unresolved emotions and feelings, especially connected with past experiences of loss. In any case, Ceres suggests a turning of the cycles in direct connection to the assimilation of high frequency energy, and a collective need to acknowledge the cyclical nature of life; if we are resisting change or not flowing well with the energies, then this is an appropriate time to acknowledge a need for more alignment.
There is a sizeable stellium of planets in Libra close to the South Node, with an emphasis on goddess energy. Past relationship issues might be activated this month, especially connected to love relationships and committed partnerships. We may need to become wiser to the nature of cycles in our lives, honouring the closure of past relationships, feeling what we most need to feel, and allowing ourselves to truly move on. If we’ve been holding on to grudges or pain, we have a collective opportunity to forgive past experiences and agree to elevate them by learning from them.
Balance is a key theme
The activation of the Libra archetype makes balance and harmonisation a priority. As we progress toward a more awakened state, what do we need to balance in order to move forward? Are there areas unattended where we are either too extreme and reactionary, or where we tend to flip-flop between opposite ways of being? The ongoing energy activations are now bringing imbalances to our attention.
Quite probably, issues of love and commitment will be at the fore. What do we love, and what will we truly commit to in life? Are we doing what we love, or are we compromising ourselves with clever rational explanations? For some, this may be a window of time where a timely rendezvous with an old familiar soul can ignite a soul-contract relationship. This is to say that from September to December (the new moon energy will probably carry forward on the upcoming equinox wave), some of us may activate soul-contracts with others in service to a higher calling. If we are in a position to take steps toward some kind of social contribution in service to the whole, then this may be a window of time where we are more likely to meet and connect with those we have chosen to work with in a committed and mutually loving way, prior to incarnation. These new relationship connections could take altruistic intentions or developing projects to a whole new level.
Evolutionary pressure generates expanded personal understanding
Uranus now culminating in the last degrees of Taurus, is inconjunct Varda in Sagittarius on the Galactic Center, while square to Paraamzius and Mercury in Leo. Potent signalling from higher dimensions has a strong tendency to promote fresh new perceptions, creative inspirations, and ideas that can lead to a profound breakthrough in understanding.
Mercury and Praamzius feature in a Grand Fire Trine with Varda and Chiron. Fire trines are highly creative energy flows, often generating lots of movement of one kind or another. This is a good time to bring new information into personal awareness to be creatively expressed for the greater good. Angelic messaging from above and beyond, now inspires us to express healing and ‘cohering’ wisdom in ways that initiate others or help them heal and awaken. Some of us will be the transmitters and some of us will be the receivers. And with Varda in opposition to Mars in Gemini, new understanding will energise positive actions in the world as long as we have the courage to follow through.
Collective challenges serve to stimulate personal growth
While many may fixate on all the emerging problems in the world, the real opportunity is to learn to manage oneself in a time of global crisis, through the mastering of fear, or put another way, the mastering of one’s vibration. By bringing awareness to our inner dynamics through self analysis, we can continue to make adjustments in the way we operate, toward more alignment with a higher-power, humble enough to follow guiding impulses, even if the world at large has stopped making sense.
A Yod featuring Varuna sextile Makemake, Juno, Venus and the South Node, with Gonggong in Pisces at the apex, highlights yet another impulse toward healing and adjustment, catalysed by ongoing collective chaos. The psychic environment is no longer serene (for the sensitive it hasn’t been for quite some time); the proverbial collective pond is now fraught with seismic ripples we cannot control. Gonggong entered Pisces in 2007-2008 stirring up the collective field and generating ongoing shockwaves that have been tearing through collective illusions, making it easier for us to penetrate long standing deceptions, and acting as a catalyst for collective spiritual awakening.
Gonggong will hang around the 6th degree of Pisces for the next 6 months, and the Sabian symbol for 5˚ Pisces is “ A parade of army officers in full dress”. The Sabian symbol of any degree of the zodiac offers us a more detailed sense of the energy. Although Gonggong has a destructive side, capable of initiating irrevocable change, and while in Pisces this will be felt all over the world, the keynote speaks to the dedication of human beings to come together in service to their community. My suggestion here is that the accumulative energy of Gonggong since 2007, effectively destabilising the status quo and the existing paradigm, has now reached a point where humanity is able to respond, and begin to surrender a fixed service-to-self orientation, including once cherished opinions and a pursuit of comfort, in order to begin to think in a larger, more responsible, and more service-to-other way.
It’s true to say that from 2008, when Gonggong was at 0˚ Pisces and Pluto was at 0˚ Capricorn, we moved into a more accelerated collective awakening, through the increasing instability of our global systems and way of life.
Gonggong also features in a 2nd Yod formation, sextile to Ceres, Quaoar and Pholus, with Varuna in Leo at the apex. Right now, Gonggong is catalysing a great deal of spiritual growth in many people. On the one side, the increasing world chaos and confusion is activating the inner feminine principle in all of us, through which we can learn to master our vibration and elevate toward a co-creative approach to life, and on the other side, Gonggong is acting as a conduit for high frequency energy transmissions, emanating from the Galactic Logos via our sun, and as an agent for the breakdown of an old world reality, which in turn is demanding of all of us, that we come into alignment with the Higher-Power as individuals, willing to surrender our ‘idea’ of what our life should be, together with all our perceived ego desires, in order to become more self-actualised sovereign beings.
Yods are generally energy dynamics that drive us to make internal adjustments toward a more humble and surrendered orientation. These two Yods demonstrate the evolutionary purpose of rising global confusion and chaos: as the indigenous peoples of the Americas express through the fulfilment of their prophecy of the Eagle (North American 1st Nation tribes) and the Condor (South American indigenous tribes), the only way forward is through a spiritual awakening of all of humanity, to become one people united in love and respect, to create a new era founded on natural law justice. Gonggong’s role is in part, to act as a catalyst for global awakening.
In March 2023, all the tribal elders came together for the first time in Palenque, Mexico: the union of the Condor, Eagle, Quetzal and Hummingbird, and in October of the same year, together they ritually activated the “8th fire” as part of a natural unfolding, initiating the coming together of “one humanity”, as one tribe dedicated to the recovery of the Earth. This ceremony coincided with Haumea, the patron of indigenous wisdom, newly entering the sign of Scorpio; we can expect to see the elevation of indigenous knowledge to play a part in humanity’s journey to wholeness. Haumea, now at 0˚ Scorpio, makes a harmonious trine to Gonggong, suggesting a degree of coherent unfolding in relation to the collective disillusionment and spiritual searching now prevalent, coinciding with an emerging ‘plant medicine’ renaissance, and attraction to shamanism, as we return to the balance through the feminine.
The Grand Fire Trine adds a lot of energy, tying into collective healing processes, and individual spiritual initiations, in the midst of all this uncertainty.
Final Overview
At the personal level, my sense is that incoming high-frequency energy transmissions are going to be more salient this month, because most of us will probably need to make ongoing inner adjustments to accommodate the accumulating momentum of these new frequencies; they are changing us at an unconscious level, and from time to time there can be sudden incremental shifts in our conscious awareness as a result. The Orcus-New Moon conjunction opposite Saturn in Pisces, in an energised T-Square with Jupiter, indicates a need to engage spiritual practices as a means to heal and assimilate the new frequencies, while broadening and expanding what we think is possible. This may require us to engage some form of ritual purification rite, whether through fasting, breath work, sacred ceremony, mud bathing or sauna therapy etc.
With Pluto at the apex of a Yod with Mercury and Mars, we may be forced to make adjustments to the way we think and communicate; if our ideas about reality don’t synchronise with natural law, we could end up in needless power struggles and we won’t win. If we are convinced we know all there is to know, we may find ourselves blocked and forced to review our attitude. If we are willing to take a humble approach, in the role of the eternal student, we may find ourselves significantly rewarded with powerful new insights, but we must guard against being overbearing with what we learn, and take action with a degree of care. The key learning here is to work with the energy in a cooperative way, rather than slipping into egocentric impulsive behaviour.
A Grand Fire Trine makes this month a good time for spiritual work, and if we choose this, there is real scope to initiate into new levels of spiritual understanding.
The Divine Feminine is activated more than usual this month, and that directs us inward to become self-reflective, receptive and patient. Feelings and emotions may need to be honoured more than usual.
